My Queen Latifah Moment

Part of one of the cases with desserts....they also had gelato, which took serious consideration!
We went out for a birthday lunch. And while I'll write more later, the meal ended up delicious and we planned to order dessert (some of their desserts are house made and some come from my favorite place, our local Patisserie).  They brought the tray over to me, explained the different ones and I pointed and said, "We'll have that one, that one, that one, that one, oh, and that one."
The waiter looked at me and said, "Five?"  Oh yes dear, five!  We ended up with a pistachio creme brulee, a salted caramel cashew and chocolate tart, a pear frangipan tart, a cassis with berries tart/cake thing (the only one I'd had before), and a cake thing with chocolate and hazelnut layers with a macaron on top.  Mmm.
Pistachio creme brulee.
I laughed and called it my Queen Latifah moment from Last Holiday.  If you haven't seen the movie, I highly recommend it.  She thinks she's dying, goes off on a trip she always dreamed about and at dinner the first night, in the restaurant of the chef she loves, she says she wants to order it all.  "Tout? All?, " says the waiter.  "Tout, baby. Tout de suite, " she responds.
This is what we had left...we each took a bit of everything except the pistachio which I made G finish.

  1. Happy belated Birthday! At 28 I started to feel more grown up, for the first time, and then it hit me that I would eventually turn 30.

Now that I'm 40, I'm not as freaked out by age. I know 60 year olds who are more vibrant and beautiful than many 42 year olds. It really is about living your life right, on the inside and out, and believing that you've been blessed with this life and you need to do something about it.

Those desserts look divine - I never considered a pistachio creme brulee. I made a strawberry soup last night that was exactly what my spirits needed.
