Becoming Who You Are

I was not born into a life of privilege, nor was I raised to aspire to such. In truth, the person I am seems to at times exasperate my family. As such, at times I have behaved as they would have liked rather than remaining true unto myself. I was told I like the champagne life, but have a beer budget. Well, I do rather like champagne!

So I here I am. Just me. No more pretending I am less soignee than I am. No more being mocked for loving the better things in life. So to begin with, and honest list of my true loves:

I love:

Champagne, whether a good sparkling wine or a true champagne, nothing says enjoy the moment quite like it.
The feel of silk as it flutters across your skin.
The softness of cashmere.
Sliding into bed under and on top of nice sheets.
Beautifully made clothes: Valentino, Christian Dior, Roberto Cavalli, and Chanel to name a few favorites. (Not that I own them....yet.)
A great bordeaux.
The way the grass feels when the sun is shining down and you are barefoot.
Etiquette books, they are interesting and invaluable.
The smell of old books. If they're leather, even better.
Dark woods, freshly polished.
Shoes that fit so well they are like a continuation of your feet.
Silk and lace lingerie, whether it be undergarments, or things best left to your boudoir, you cannot top this combination for it's sensuality.
Parfum, in a pretty bottle, no spray.
A good massage/pedicure/manicure. You have to take care of yourself.
The way you feel after you get an beautiful haircut.
Coffee table books, what better to flip through while awaiting your lover than a book of stunning photography.
The smells of a baby's skin, or the breath of a tiny puppy.
Standing in front of a piece of artwork you just cannot take your eyes off of.
A good strong, hot drink. Either coffee or tea will do.
Enjoying a long soak in a warm bath, not a thing to worry about.
The sound of crystal chiming.
Silky thigh-highs under an impeccable dress.
Caviar, smoked salmon, lamb, foie gras.....food is a true life experience.
Linen pants in the summertime.
Being on the water.
Hermes.

Just a start, but so lovely to have it written out. I aspire to be considered chic and soignee. And what is more chic than my final true love: myself.
