Birthday Weekend Part 1

Crazy weekend.  That's really the only way to describe it.

Since my 25th birthday was Saturday, G and I headed to Bury to start the day.  He bought me a big ice cream cone to cheer me up (the day had started out a bit wonky) and we headed around the square, shopping of course.  Garret bought me 3 bunches of red tulips...gorgeous!  I had just gotten a new purse the day before, so I was trying to keep that in mind with budgeting.  But we ended up at Noa Noa (no surprise there) and I picked up another leather tie belt, this one in a pale blue, on sale 40% off.  We ended up at Brasserie Chez Gerard for a light lunch.  Garret got the French onion soup, I got the Nicoise salade (and damn if it wasn't the yummiest thing I've tasted in a while), and we split a carafe of wine and a large order of escargot.  Then it was off towards the abbey, where G took some cheesy pics of me.
We were headed back to base to go to an antiques auction, which turned out to be a bust.  So we moved our reservations up a bit earlier, got ready and headed to Cafe Rouge.  Drank a nice bottle of champagne, and even got a pice of tarte au chocolat for dessert.  It was new on the menu, and simply to die for.  I got things I had gotten before, but G was adventurous (because he's a nice guy and knew I wanted to taste some things) and got breaded and fried mini camembert cheeses in a cranberry and red current sauce to start and a onion, mushroom, and tarragon quiche for his main.  Both were pretty yummy!  I should have taken pics, but we were a little bubbly with the champagne!

After dinner we headed back home, but decided to stop off at The Nutshell, the smallest pub in Britain.  Believe me when I say that you could fit maybe 15 people in there, not comfortably, and that might be pushing it.  But I wanted to go and so I ordered a pint of Strongbow and we admired the decor.  It was hilarious......if you ever really wanted a bunch of random foreign cash, this would be the place to rob.  The entire ceiling is covered in paper money, a lot of American dollars (including a few 5's, 10's, and 20's) and a ton of foreign money from all over.  And then on the walls they had glued the coinage and they had labels of where it was all from.  Oh, and then some corpses, one of a puffer fish, and one of what I believe is a cat.  Maybe next time I will ask them what is up with that.
Then we headed back to change into more comfortable clothing, and that is where the night got insane.  The post is already long, so I will just have to finish later.  It's worth a post of it's own, because I literally thought I was going to die Saturday night.  No, not an accident.....I thought a crazy person was going to murder me.....thank God G pushed me behind him!
