Baking Bread

It seems such an important thing to do, this making bread.  I love to bake, and had been meaning to try this recipe for ages.  It's now 1:30 a.m., I have two fresh loaves of wheat bread, and Garret was woken up from his nap happy with a cup of hot coffee and a fresh slice of hot bread and butter.  As we try and get everything done before Christmas we're both on odd schedules, and me more than him.....but he insisted on being woken up this early so that I wasn't going it alone.  Fool, but I love him!  The bread is very good!  I am thinking of experimenting to add some oats to it (maybe just on top).  But for now I will be making a batch every week or so.  






*I did use sugar instead of the honey that it calls for.  I'm not big on a honey wheat flavor for sandwiches and soups.

  1. Ohhhhh, how I love homemade bread. I can't wait to be home and make some. Yours looks so good, I want a slice and spread it with real butter, yummy!!
