Today the husband and I headed out to pick up my earl grey from the post office. (Yes, I've agreed to share with him, but it's still mine :D) After we collected our box we headed to a local diner we discovered the over day. Glory be is it good! We had breakfast items the other day and today stopped in for coffee (of which I was in desperate need) and I had a bowl of chili while he ate a reuben sandwich that was actually really good (changing my notion of them being disgusting). It was a nice atmosphere as we had discovered the other day, the waitresses are friendly and there seem to be a lot of regulars. Then off shopping, and I finally found the piece I needed for my mother's gift. As well as picking up a bunch of other things as well. Isn't that the way it always goes?
Now we're home and I desperately need a nap, but have cookies to bake, fudge to make and more sewing than I am honestly looking forward to. We did find some mistint paint last night that we feel in love with, so now I just need to find a dresser to work for our living room. In the meantime, I'm painting a little wooden project for our house with some of the paint. It'll need another coat tonight.
I'm looking forward to the Christmas vacation coming up. It will be nice to have nothing to do except lie around eating bon bons. Ha! As if!
Don't you just love it when you find a local place like that? We've got a couple of little cafe's here that I just love and I like to give them my business instead of going to a chain.
ReplyDeleteI understand about the reuben! Highly sensitive sandwich and it seems that very few places make them well. It seems there is no mediocre reuben..they are either wonderful or disgusting!
ReplyDeleteI also find Reuben's gross. I love earl grey.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was there to have a cup of the earl grey and chat (and sample!) while you are baking and sewing! It might help me get my (overdue) christmas sewing done if I had someone to chat too whilst doing it...
