Hats Aplenty

I am a lover of hats.  Living in England, I would go into the department stores and try on light as feather fascinators as well as some pretty kooky hats.  My love of hats has been a lifelong thing, and perhaps I'll ask my maman to hunt down the photo of me in a straw hat with a straw purse when I was 2.  I was sassy!
I am kicking myself that we didn't get this hat for him.  LOVE it!

Luckily, as you saw from the birthday photo, I have inherited a small collection of beautiful hats from my grandmama.  That particular one is a favorite of mine, with a black band of velvet with pearls sewn on and a black veil.  As I walked in that night my friend said that I looked very Audrey Hepburn-ish.  And I would have to agree, it was a very transforming hat.
My niece...prepared for our escape to Russia!

I've also acquired a variety of hats on my own, though sadly I never took advantage of the hats available in the stores of England (something G has agreed must be remedied the next time we're there, and we were browsing through stores online today!).  However, I do have a simple hat I picked up in a charity shop there, as well as a bunch of fedoras I've been collecting since coming back to the U.S.
F21 Fascinators with my bestie.

I've never met a hat that didn't work for me, and for that I am thankful.  Small facinators, large straw hats, I'm even searching for the perfect top hat for a fun night out.  I think they can be a fun accessory, or add a bit of mystery.
Do you wear hats?  Have a favorite one?

*While I wear hats all the time I realized that I usually do not snap photos of this.  I'll have to get better.  With my father betting we're having a girl I can't be a poorly accessorized mama!

  1. Ugh, I wish I could wear hats! I don't know if it's a confidence thing, but there are very few hats I would feel comfortable pulling off.

  2. You're so lucky! My head seems to be too big for most of the hats sold here in Australia. So i've sort of given up

  3. How did I miss that you were expecting - I keep missing things on your blog - what is my problem.

I must write angrier than I am - (referring to my post) cause my state is more of one with my eyes rolled into the back of my head than of high blood pressure!

Hope you are feeling great - by tailbone feels like it got hit my a two by four!

  4. I can wear some hats, while others look ridiculous on me. I think the straw hat with the black band looks so chic on you...it's my favorite (but they are all suited to your face).
And G looks adorably charming in his bowler hat (is that what it is?)

  5. Rachel, you must learn to rock a hat! It gives off an "I'm awesome and know it" vibe.

Hermine, I have a big head too! Maybe the hats are just smaller there?

Angela, Don't tell me that, lol! My tailbone is already still healing from a break.

Adrienne, Thanks! And yes, it's a bowler hat. He actually rocks a fedora really well too, surprisingly.

  6. I love hats, and I have several, especially for winter. But somehow I don't get to wear them as much as I'd like...
As for black vanilla, it's a strong vanilla scent, but less sweet and a bit spicy... I prefer it to the "regular" vanilla. It's a nice scent to come home to.

  7. I love hats particularly fedoras, newsboy caps and fascinators.
You should definitely post more pics of yourself. With all the lovely hats and showing us the growing tummy ;-)
    Hugs
