Slow Cook

I received a slow cooker for a bridal gift.  We never really use it much.  Mainly I use it to keep things hot (like mashed potatoes) during gatherings.  But, G has returned to college and his schedule has me feeling a little time crunched.  I finally broke down and realized the baked pork chops I wanted to do were going to require slow cooking help.

So I broke that bad boy out, layered everything and set it to cooking.  I still baked potatoes and did pan roasted brussels sprouts as a side, but the pork chops were easy peasy.  So simple, so good, so I thought I'd share.

Slow Cooker Applesauce Pork Chops

You can do this with anywhere from 4-8 pork chops.

Mix a cup of (no sugar added) applesauce with 1 tsp mustard powder and 1/8 tsp cinnamon (I just shook some in it).  Mix well.

Place 2 pork chops in crock pot.  Season with salt and pepper, some chopped red onion and then spread applesauce mixture.  Then sprinkle a bit of brown sugar.  Continue layering with as many pork chops as you are doing.  Cook on low for 7 1/2 to 8 hours, or on high for 3 1/2 to 4.

These turned out delicious and moist enough Nora could eat hers just cut up.

  1. I never use mine either! Same as you, only to entertain, keeping meatballs warm in mine. And my parents bought me the cutest one too- small and red, perfect for me.

How is G liking his classes?
