Middle Eastern Meets Indian

So we picked up as part of our CSA last Saturday a couple large bunches of spinach.  We were wanting to make Palak Paneer without the Paneer (Indian spinach and cheese dish...paneer is the homemade cheese).  So last night I made that and mujadarrah (lentils with rice and browned onions, a Middle Eastern dish).  The two of them together was heavenly, and we seriously had to restrain ourselves from eating it all.  It made a tasty lunch today and we still have rice and lentils left over!

  2. Hi sweet'ums!

While the rice and lentils looks delish....the spinach looks...well...let's just say...something that a cow might have chewed over and over again...yuk!!!

But I still love you bunches and am excited that you are trying new things...just don't try and spring that on us when we come visit later this summer okay???

    Love,
    Maman

  5. Samantha-- Welcome! I look forward to reading your blog as well! Korea sounds interesting!

Maman-- I won't spring it on you! I mean, you've seen it here, you should expect it! Love you!

Dunc-- Of course! You need one so you can focus of being a mama!

La Belette-- I was looking into the difference between saag and palak and turns out in most US restaurants they are used interchangeably for the same thing. Saag is supposed to be mustard greens, but most restaurants use the less expensive spinach. Both dishes are my favorites, I rarely order meat at the Indian restaurants anymore!
