Sweet Sunday Weather

Today was one of those days where I was busy, but in a nice way.  Got up, headed to church.  Priest was Indian and spoke about missionary work.  Everyone asked about G (per usual), I assured them he had better weather than we do.  Then it was off to get some groceries.  Currently I have live animals in my fridge just waiting for my dinner.

Then I met up with friends because the weather was beautiful so we went on a long, long walk at a lake.  Which was super fun.  Then we headed to the shopping center, not to do shopping, but to get french fries for my friends 2 year old.  I suggested we sit at one of the open little kids' tables to make it easier, her mother thought I was joking, but quickly realized the brilliance of this plan.  So we sat and chit chatted a bit, discussed an insane issue from earlier this week and decided we'd give a new girl another go because we think we intimidated her a bit the first go around.  I'm not really sure why because we're so not impressive/intimidating people, but eh.

And now I'm home and getting ready to begin cleaning up the kitchen so it's nice and shiny before I make dinner.  I'm a little nervous as cooking shellfish always makes me.  I keep repeating, closed before cooking, open after.  Let's hope I knock this one out of the park.  I would love to surprise G by being able to make moules mariniere when he comes home.

Hope everyone had an excellent weekend!

  1. Once you get the hang of it, mussels and other shellfish are so rewarding to cook at home! They're affordable, easy, and quick, plus look super impressive. I love to make mussels in white wine; I also like to steam them open, then broil them on the half shell with bread crumbs and herbs. Maybe lobsters for your husband's homecoming?! Have fun.

  2. Oh, moules! How I used to love them. I think it's the one thing I miss from before I became a vegetarian. :) Hope they turned out delicious.
