Not A Tablescape

I know a lot of people love to do tablescapes (i.e. decorating the table for entertaining purposes), and they do them well.  However, I tend to focus on getting the table set up nicely, but definitely not much flair (it's something I'm working on).  However I do have to say that I'm getting quite good at fireplacescapes.  

I won a trio of hurricane candle holders the first night of my conference from DaySpring Cards.  I was able to choose anything there I wanted, and after deliberating I chose these gorgeous nativity candle holders.  I loved them at the conference with the lights on, but let me tell you, they are stunning in the dark.  I originally planned for them to go in my fireplace, so I set that up before moving them somewhere else.

Then the next thing I did was move them, because we bought an electric fireplace insert to help heat up our front room.  While sitting next to it I discovered some old, old nails are in the brick on the inside.  Perfect for hanging the 'Joy To The World' metal wall hanger I picked up from TJMaxx.  I love this piece, it's gorgeous, and with the fireplace underneath it, it helps to remind us why we celebrate this holiday!  

Nothing fancy, but both setups just make me smile.  I love that Christmas is just around the corner.  We'll be putting up our little tree this weekend and decking the halls.  We even bought a metal mistletoe ornament at Crate and Barrel that G has been using to sneak kisses all day!  This season will indeed be merry and bright.  

Bit By Bit

We stopped in at Hobby Lobby tonight to look at Christmas items (I really want a 9' Christmas tree!), but ended up picking up damask/French style items instead, most at half off.  So while I was antsy late tonight I set up a makeshift coffee table tray.

Eventually this tray will go on a long black coffee table or our dresser in our bedroom.  Not quite decided yet, but I am loving the small things that have made my house begin to feel like a home. 

Oh My Goodness Of My Goodness!

Am I ever happy I woke up early this morning!  I checked my e-mail about 5 minutes ago and saw that I had an e-mail from overstock.com about an item I requested to be notified if they got it back it stock was in.  It was my rug!  And they only had one left!  (G feels that most likely someone got my rug by mistake and they sent it back).  So I rushed, put it in my cart, then remembered I had another $10 off coupon in my inbox (thank God, because it was also about $25 more expensive this time) and went back for that, placed my order and it's done.  I got an order confirmation!  Now I cannot wait, it should be here next week.  And lemme tell ya......if we get the wrong rug again Overstock's little head is gonna roll!  Keep your fingers crossed for me!

We're slowly putting the home together, bit by bit, and I am loving every second of finding that things that just belongs.  

*EDIT*  This is a wool rug from overstock.com.  We're planning on putting it in the sitting room and using it as a focal point of centering the conversational area.  I love the giant, blown up damask!
